What happens, day by day, when a renewal fails and how to fix it; how to update or switch your payment method; what to do when you paid but see no server; and the quirks of each payment provider.
A failed payment is not a crisis: your servers keep running for a week while the panel retries your card and nudges you by email, and every fix is a button on the Billing page. This guide is the whole timeline, the fixes, and the cases where the money moved but the server did not.
| At a glance | |
|---|---|
| Where | Billing (/billing); the red banner at the top tells you what is wrong |
| Fastest fix | update the card, then Retry payment or Pay now |
| Time | two minutes once your bank cooperates |
A renewal is charged on the renewal date. When the charge is declined, this is the sequence; days count from that date.
| When | What happens |
|---|---|
| Day 0 | The subscription becomes Past Due and the unpaid amount is your outstanding balance. Servers keep running. You get a "your payment was declined" email and the Billing page shows Payment failed with Update card and Retry payment. |
| Every 42 hours | The panel retries your saved method automatically, up to 8 attempts within 14 days. A success ends the episode: servers are reactivated and everything is back to normal. |
| Day 3 | Late interest starts on the balance at 6% per year, counted daily and never more than the balance itself. The second declined attempt's email says so. |
| Day 5 | A written notice of the unpaid balance is sent two days before suspension. |
| Day 7 | Servers on the subscription are suspended: stopped and unable to start. Their files are kept. The status card reads Suspended. |
| Day 14 and after | Automatic attempts end ("automatic payment attempts have ended" email) and the subscription switches to Manual Renewal: you pay through a link instead of a background charge. The balance stays due. |
Two things never happen on their own: your data is not deleted by a failed payment, and the subscription is not cancelled. It waits, suspended, for a payment. The User Agreement does allow Falix to terminate long-suspended services, so do not leave it there.
💡 Tip: You can also settle the balance as part of something else: a new server, an upgrade or a cycle switch lists it under Also due from your account and pays it in the same checkout.
On the Billing page, the Payment method card shows what is saved (card brand and last four digits, or your PayPal email). Pick a gateway button and press Update card (or Switch to … when you picked a different provider; Add card when nothing is saved):
| Gateway | What happens |
|---|---|
| Revolut (cards) | a secure pop-up asks for the card; a small verification hold confirms it and is released |
| Stripe (cards, wallets and local methods) | you are taken to a Stripe setup page and brought back when done |
| PayPal | PayPal opens for you to approve a billing agreement; the panel confirms it when you return |
The new method is used for every future charge; nothing is charged by the update itself. Then press Retry payment or Pay now.
If automatic attempts have run out, or your subscription was migrated without a saved method, the status card reads Manual Renewal. You get a payment link by email 7 days before, 3 days before and on the renewal date, and the Billing page shows a Pay button next to the next charge while the link is valid. Add a card and press Switch to Automatic on the payment method card to go back to background charges.
Work through the page you landed on:
| What you see | What it means and what to do |
|---|---|
| Payment received, "Setting up your server" | Normal. Setup takes about a minute and continues if you close the page. Refresh the server list, then press Start. |
| Checking your payment… | The provider has not confirmed yet. Wait, do not pay again. |
| No payment to show | The page has no order behind it, usually from an old tab. If you just paid, the purchase appears on Billing within a few minutes. |
| Couldn't set up your server | Your balance or credit changed while you were paying, so the money went to your account credit instead and nothing was built. Press Review order to finish it with the credit. Nothing was charged twice. |
| We couldn't apply your payment | The payment arrived but could not be matched to the order. The billing team refunds it or applies it by hand; you do not need to pay again. Open a ticket if you want to know where it stands. |
| Checkout cancelled | You left the provider's page before finishing. Nothing was charged. Set it up again restarts the order. |
| The location was full | Setup retries by itself with growing delays and emails you if it has to give up. Pick another location when the page offers it. |
If none of these match, check two more places: the Billing page lists every successful charge as an invoice, and your provider's email confirms whether the payment went through at all. Then open a ticket with the invoice number, see Support tickets.
⚠️ Heads up: "We could not confirm this payment. Do not pay again" means exactly that. The panel re-checks the provider in the background and a second attempt would risk a double charge.
| Reason | What to do |
|---|---|
| Insufficient funds or a card limit | Top up or raise the limit, then Retry payment. |
| Card expired or replaced | Update card, then retry. |
| Bank declined without a reason | Ask the bank to allow the charge; some cards block online or foreign merchants by default. Or switch to another provider. |
| 3-D Secure not completed | Approve the prompt in your banking app and retry. |
| PayPal balance or hold | Check PayPal for restrictions, or pay by card this once. |
| "Too many attempts" | Wait out the cooldown shown; it protects you from double charges. |
