SQLite in depth

SQLite is a whole database in one file next to your code — no server to run. Turn on WAL mode for safe concurrent writes, back it up properly, know its real limits, and learn the one line that tells you when to move to a managed database instead.

Backing up your databases

Managed databases have their own backups, separate from server file backups — take them from the Databases page, export SQL dumps from phpMyAdmin, and practise the restore before you need it.

Connection pooling

A long-running bot or web server should hold a small pool of database connections, not one fragile connection and not a new one per query. Here's the pattern for mysql2, pg, and mongo — and when a single connection is genuinely fine.

Cleaning up old data
