Search & Install Minecraft Mods
How do I add mods to my server?
Go to the Mods page, browse or search for the mod you want, and click Install. The mod file is downloaded to your server's
/mods directory. Your server must be running a mod loader — Forge, Fabric, NeoForge, or Quilt. Restart your server after installing to load the mod. Read the full guide →What is the difference between mod loaders?
Forge is the long-standing standard with the largest mod library. Fabric is a lightweight, modern alternative with faster updates. NeoForge is a community fork of Forge. Quilt is a fork of Fabric. Mods are not cross-compatible between loaders, so install mods built for the loader your server runs.
How do I search and filter mods?
Type a mod name in the search bar and choose Modrinth or CurseForge from the source dropdown. Open Advanced Filters to sort by Relevance, Downloads, Follows, Newest, or Recently Updated, and to filter by category, mod loader (Forge, Fabric, NeoForge, Quilt), game version, and environment (Server-side, Client-side, or Both). Featured Only and Open Source Only filters apply on Modrinth.
What mod details can I view before installing?
Click any mod to open its detail view. The Overview tab shows the full description, statistics, categories, supported loaders, license, and external links. The Gallery tab has screenshots. The Versions tab lists releases with install buttons, filterable by loader and game version — pick one that matches your server.
Are there mod restrictions on the free plan?
Most mods are available on both plans. Free servers hide a small set of server-intensive addons, matched by name — most relevant to mods are world pre-generation tools such as Chunky and ChunkMaster. Premium servers see the full, unfiltered list. Map mods like Dynmap or BlueMap are not blocked and can be installed on either plan.
How do I check for mod updates?
Visit the My Addons page to see installed mods with update status matched against Modrinth. When an update is available you can install the newer version directly. Always confirm the update matches your mod loader and Minecraft version before applying, and back up your server first.
