What are server properties?
Server properties control gameplay rules and server behavior through configuration files. The Properties page edits server.properties (all Java servers), plus specialized files like bukkit.yml, spigot.yml, paper-global.yml, and purpur.yml. Your server must have been started at least once for config files to exist.
How do I change game mode or difficulty?
Find the gamemode and difficulty properties in the list and select your preferred option from the dropdown. Changes auto-save 800ms after you stop editing, with a status indicator (Saving/Saved/Error). Restart your server for most changes to take effect. Use the search bar (Ctrl+F) to quickly find specific properties.
What property presets are available?
Gameplay presets include Vanilla, Creative, Hardcore, PvP, Peaceful, Skyblock, Adventure, Minigames, Roleplay, Factions, and UltraHardcore. Performance presets: Low End, Balanced, High End. World presets: Super Flat, Amplified, Large Biomes. Server size presets: Small and Large. Presets apply multiple settings at once.
How do I change the server icon?
Find the Server Icon section on the Properties page and upload an image (up to 5 MB). The system automatically resizes it to the required 64×64 pixel format. The icon appears in players' server lists next to your server name. Supported formats include PNG, JPEG, and other common image types.
How do I set up the MOTD?
Use the MOTD Editor on the Properties page for a live preview with 16 color codes and formatting options (bold, italic, strikethrough, etc.). The MOTD (Message of the Day) is the description text shown in players' multiplayer server lists below your server name. Changes take effect after a server restart.
What is Online Mode?
Online Mode enables Mojang authentication, verifying that players own legitimate Minecraft accounts. Disabling it allows cracked clients to connect but removes all authentication security. Keep this enabled unless you specifically need to allow offline-mode players. Servers running behind proxies like BungeeCord may need to disable it on backend servers.
